Ebrahim Raisi Biography – Raisi is the President of Iran, Muslim jurist and Principlist. He became the President after being elected in 2021.
The President was declared dead yesterday after his remains and that of other crew members of the ill-fated Nothern Iran helicopter were found.
Before he became President, Raisi has been under sanctions from the United States due to his role in the mass execution of prisoners in 1988.

Raisi Helicopter Crash
On May 19, 2024, a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed while he was visiting a northern region in Iran.
Remains of President Raisi following the crash has been recovered hours after rescue teams were able to access the mountain area after dense fog in the area made it difficult for rescue crews to locate the downed aircraft in the remote, mountainous East Azerbaijan Province.
The helicopter was reportedly returning from a ceremony for the opening of a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan when it crashed upon landing in the Varzaqan region¹. Along with President Raisi, the country’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the governor of East Azerbaijan were among a number of officials also aboard the helicopter.
Rescue efforts were complicated by the foggy weather conditions and the mountainous and forested terrain. Despite the challenges, 20 rescue teams and drones were sent to the area to aid in the search and rescue operation.
All efforts are still on to find him and other crew members.
