Joe Ajaero is a Nigerian journalist and activist. He is the current President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, the sole civil body for labour workers in Nigeria.
Ajaero has been in the news for some days now over the failure of the NLC and the FG to settle for a minimum wage. This situation however degenerated and the NLC embarked on an industrial action, shutting all labour-related operations in the country.

Ajaero was born on the 17th of December, 1964 in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.
He obtained his first degree in education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1990, and also pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in journalism from Times Journalism Institute.

Joe Ajaero began as a research officer at the One Mechanized Infantry Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Later, he contributed to journalistic excellence at Vanguard as a reporter, correspondent, and assistant news editor. His dedicated service to labor and workers’ rights ultimately led him to become the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, succeeding Ayuba Wabba.
