Harris is the first African-American to female to ever become the United States vice president. She stands a chance to be the first female president of the United States in the coming polls. She is a respected figure and model to many, especially the female coalition communities who admire her strength and achievements.
Early Life and Education
Kamala Harris was born on October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California, U.S. She has held several notable positions throughout her career.
- Harris’s father was Jamaican, and her mother was the daughter of an Indian diplomat. She grew up with close ties to her Indian family and frequently traveled to Chennai, the capital of the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
- She attended Westmount High School in Quebec and later studied at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in political science and economics.
- In 1989, she returned to California and earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Political Career
- Vice President of the United States (2021–25): Harris is the 49th vice president and the first woman, first Black American, and first Asian American to hold this post in the Democratic administration of President Joe Biden.
- U.S. Senate (2017–21): Prior to her vice presidency, she served as a senator representing California from 2017 to 2021.
- Attorney General of California (2011–17): Harris also served as California’s attorney general.

Kamala Harris is married to Douglas Emhoff. He is an attorney who is specialized in entertainment cases. Douglas has also made history as the first Second Gentleman of the United States, given his role during Harris’s vice presidency.
