Oba Lekan Balogun, Olubadan of Ibadan land has joined his ancestors after 2 years as the Olubadan and at the ripe age of 81 years old.
Oba Lekan Balogun was made the 42nd Olubadan after he succeeded Oba Saliu Adetunji as the Otun.

Early life and Educational Background
Oba Lekan Balogun Olubadan of Ibadan was born on the 18th of October, 1942 in Ibadan North East Local Government Area of Oyo State to the famous Balogun family.
Known formally as Moshood Olalekan Balogun, he studied in the United Kingdom for most part of his life, obtaining his O and A level Certificates before proceeding to the Brunel University London for his first and Masters degrees in Administration and Economics.
As an academic freak, Balogun enrolled again for his PhD. Just few months after working with the Lambeth Local Government Service.
Career and Achievements
As an Academia, Balogun had a lot to his name and many feathers to his cap.
He was a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State and he has also worked in notable places which included;
– Editor at the monthly The Nigerian Pathfinder magazine
– Director, Triumph Newspaper, Kano.
He also worked in some international brands and organizations as a management consultant or an administrative head where he passed down his wealth of knowledge.
Some of them Includes;
Leyland, Shell British Petroleum Company, and many others.
Balogun’s patriotic and exceptional love for his country saw him publish so many pieces and publications like;
Arrogance of Power, Power for Sale, Social Justice or Doom, and many others.
Not stopping, Olubadan went ahead to represent Oyo Central Senatorial district at the Senate house between 1999 and 2003 where he headed the Senate committee on National Planning.
Personal Life and Family
Lekan Balogun Olubadan was married to two wives whom Olori Olayinka was well known and responsible for managing the home.
He had many children as well.
Death, Cause of Death
In fulfillment of the human law of nature that says everything that has a beginning must have an end, the Olubadan passed away on Thursday, 14th of March, 2024 and was buried on Friday according to Islamic rites.
His cause of death may have been linked to old age as he died at the ripe age of 81 years old.
He is to be succeeded by Teslim Folarin who will be the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan.
