Abbas Byakagaba: Uganda’s new IGP, and all you should Know

Abbas Byakagaba has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police in Uganda by President Yoweri Museveni.

This is coming after the retirement of the immediate IGP Martins Okoth Ochola who retired two months ago.

Not so much of the new IGP is available to the Press but what we know is that he comes with a robust wealth of ideas in the policing affairs of Uganda.

Abbas Byakagaba has recently been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Uganda by President Yoweri Museveni. He brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as the Counter Terrorism (CT) commander and Human Resource Director.

Byakagaba has also led specialized and high-risk operations against Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) extremists during his tenure as the head of the police’s counter-terrorism docket.
